It's First Friday in November!

It may not be raining, but the leaves are putting on such a glorious show this year! As we push into late fall, art shows are opening all month long. Check out some highlights opening this weekend below!

Stop by the Howard Pyle Studio for Photo Projections Into the Past, an evening of historic projection installations presented by Projected in Place. Figures from the past will be projected in the very place they once stood, alongside paintings by the Howard Pyle Studios Group Artists. The reception is Friday, Nov. 1 from 5 to 8 pm, and the exhibition will run through November.

At the Oxford Arts Alliance, six artists come together in At the Beginning of Seeing. Curated by painters Olivia Hiester and Liam Murphy-Torres, the show features six painters who have developed deeply personal and idiosyncratic ways of working from direct observation. Includes works by Stacy Caldwell, Roger Chavez, Cody Heichel, Henry Murphy, Nicolas Potoskie, and Laura Vahlberg. An Opening Reception will be held Friday, Nov. 1 from 5 to 8 pm, and the show is on view through Nov. 26.

Her latest collection captures the beauty and fragility of wild, endangered animals through a diverse array of media. “Each piece resonates with emotion, using tears, breaks, and delicate forms to tell the bigger story of these magnificent creatures and their plight,” said the artist statement. The Opening Reception will be held Friday, Nov. 1 from 5 to 8 pm.

The Monthly Muse at Muse Artisan Boutique is Pete Prown, with the exhibition Winter on the Wing. Seeking to capture the spirit of the season, Prown’s popular oil and acrylic paintings feature local wildlife, pastoral scenes, and landscapes. “The images in these pieces are not specific locations—indeed, they're neither photographs or postcards—but instead glimpses into shapes, colors, and textures that make our region of Pennsylvania so special at this time of year,” said the artist. An Opening Reception will be held Friday, Nov. 1 from 6 to 8 pm, and the show is on view through the month.
